Handcrafted Kitchen Cabinetry in Surrey

A bespoke kitchen cabinetry project combining painted shaker doors, a Belfast sink, marble worktops, open shelving and traditional brass details. Designed to complement the character of the room, the finished cabinetry brings together practical storage and timeless craftsmanship.

Project Overview

This project involved creating a run of bespoke kitchen cabinetry tailored to the proportions and style of the room.

The client wanted practical storage and generous worktop space, while keeping the overall design elegant and traditional. Dark painted cabinetry, brass fittings and a Belfast sink were combined with a light marble worktop and open display shelving to create a balanced, characterful finish.

The Brief

The project needed to provide:

  • Practical kitchen storage

  • A spacious sink and preparation area

  • A traditional painted finish

  • Open shelving for display and everyday items

  • Brass details to complement the interior

  • Cabinetry that suited the period character of the property

  • A cohesive design that worked with the existing dining space

The main challenge was achieving a fitted, considered appearance without making the room feel overly formal or heavy.

The Design

The cabinetry was designed around the sink position, worktop requirements and available wall space.

Key features included:

  • Painted shaker-style doors

  • Full-height storage cabinet

  • Belfast sink

  • Marble worktops and upstands

  • Open wall shelving

  • Brass hanging rail

  • Traditional brass taps

  • Cup handles and cabinet knobs

  • Concealed storage beneath the sink

  • End-panel detailing

  • Integrated ventilation grille

  • Carefully proportioned plinths and cornice details

The Build

Each cabinet was made to fit the space rather than relying on standard modular sizes.

This allowed the layout to make full use of the available wall while accommodating the sink, storage and services. The cabinetry was built and installed with careful attention to alignment, door spacing and finishing details so that the completed run feels balanced and integrated with the room.

The Finished Result

The finished cabinetry provides generous storage and a practical work area while becoming a strong visual feature within the kitchen.

The dark painted units create contrast and definition, while the marble worktop, open shelving and brass details keep the room feeling warm and refined. The result is a highly functional kitchen area with a timeless, handcrafted appearance.
